Who: Sebastian Junger
Saw a niche: Combat journalists died in Syria recently. One died of a severed femoral artery. Moderate battlefield first-aid techniques could have probably stemmed his bleeding enough to get him to help and he would be alive today but most combat journalists have no first aid knowledge.
The idea: Make a non-profit org that trains freelance combat journalists (it turns out that salaried journalists, on corporate insurance, are required to get training but freelancers usually don't have insurance and aren't trained)
Clever Part: There were plenty of media outlets willing to fund the new organization. The foundation created to memorialize the dead journalists gave funding too.
