Finally! A bike blogger, Kevin at Urban Peleton, that is in favor of stopping at stop signs and riding down a one way street in the right direction:
"I began to recognize the importance of being sensitive to the rules of the road. It’s funny, the lycra set and the messenger wanna-be set seem to be in the same camp on this one; either they can’t be bothered to slow down for too long or they simply refuse to comply with authority. What they fail to comprehend is that the bike lanes are no different than the sidewalks. You don’t run down the sidewalk at top speed, weaving in and out of the crowds as if you’re in some Hollywood thriller. You also don’t run out into traffic dodging cars to get to the other side."
In the style of the white bike memorials I want to post some on street marker a la the Darwin Awards as a tribute to bikers who darted out against the signal and were eliminated from the gene pool.
I had an indignant friend, riding the wrong way around a corner, at night, on a busy road, yell at a law obeying taxi. I had no success telling them the taxi was right and he was wrong.
Here are the White Bike memorials: one, two.
Here's more of URBAN PELETON.
