Here are demonstrations of waves in both the very large and the very small:
1 - Sound waves in the sun's plasma in words and pictures at the Stanford Solar Observatory.
2- "Sound" waves in a single atom -- the waves of a "particle in a box", a wave of probability actually, not sound. PIAB is the simplified version of an electron orbital from third year college chemistry. Go to Molecular Workbench then choose Particle in a Rectangular Container. The demo is interactive and customizable.
