There were several good posts at Thoreau's Blog last week, including one which recalls Buddhism. As meditation aims to make the mind see the mind, Thoreau proposes to make a place from within time where you can observe time flowing around you.

When I try meditation, I find that my mind is jumping from one thing to another and it's far more restful to concentrate on one something than to clear it entirely. Guess I'd better keep trying huh? Meditative ADD I guess.
